Hunting Northern Buck Preserve:
The Complete Deer Hunting Experience

"Thanks for a great hunt. We hope to return soon!"

white-tailed deer hunting at Palmquist Farm

Deer hunting is a skilled sport that requires knowledge and ability. The Northern Buck Preserve, a 1300-acre fenced-in deer farm, was created for this kind of hunter (not just a shooter) who values the skill of the chase. Former hunters and a state official have described it as a tremendous tract of hunting land and one of the best private hunting areas in the state. Hunting Northern Buck Preserve feels like hunting in the wild forests of Wisconsin. The only exception from the wild is that hunters see several nice bucks a day, the bucks score anywhere from 120 to 160 Boone and Crockett points, and almost 100% of our hunters are successful at getting their deer.

The Finer Points of A Total Hunting Experience

The Game:
Our deer have naturally matured in the preserve, creating respectable trophy bucks that have never been tranquilized, sedated, or given antibiotics. Raising the deer naturally means the meat is delicious as well. It also allows us to keep our rates reasonable.

The Land:
Walk the many deer trails or perch in a beautiful spot in a specially designed hunting stand, and see for yourself why the North Woods offers the best deer hunting in the Midwest. The 1300-acre deer preserve is specially managed as a prime habitat for white-tailed deer, so the deer tend to have larger bodies and antlers than deer outside the fence.

The Hunt:
Hunts are semi-guided so you can be on your own, but if you need assistance or transportation, we will be there to help. Assistance with transporting and taking care of the animal after it is shot is also provided. The preserve offers comfortable, spacious, and enclosed tower stands that are permanent structures. You are welcome to bring your own tree stand as well. Individual hunting licenses are not required, and hunters are not bound by DNR hunting seasons. The Farm offers deer hunts during the fall months. The preserve also offers white deer, Sika deer, and elk hunts.

Trophy bucks at Palmquist Farm

The Farm:
Many hunting lodges offer bunkhouse lodging and sub par food. They want their guests to just shoot their game, pay the fees, and leave, but at Palmquist Farm, hunting is a longtime family tradition. That’s why we strive to offer a total hunting experience that is enjoyable across the board. Our delicious, home-cooked meals prepared by Helen Palmquist deliver the best of hearty farm food prepared to accommodate your hunting schedule and served in a friendly atmosphere. The handcrafted, comfortable cabins offer the perfect place to relax after a full day in the woods. You won’t find bunkhouses at the farm, just hot saunas and wood-burning fireplaces to rest your feet by. We also offer activities for non-hunting family members who may tag along, like hiking, hay rides, lawn games, scavenger hunts, farm animals and much more plus local attractions for the whole family. Even if they don't hunt, they'll have an enjoyable time and a memorable vacation at The Farm.

*We only accept a limited number of hunters for this unique experience, and special rates apply. Bow hunts and hunting outside the preserve can be arranged by request. Please contact us for more information on special hunts.
