Also Palmquist Farm is surrounded by 10,000 acres of county, state, and federal land open to public hunting. If hunting whitetail deer, ruffed grouse, woodcock and turkey is your pleasure, then “The Farm” will be your hunting paradise. In addition, Bison hunts may be available. Please contact us regarding prices for bison hunts or take a look at our Blog for hunting updates and special offers.

Palmquist Farm strives to make your hunt successful and enjoyable. We will prepare sack lunches for in the field and our meals are scheduled to accommodate the times when you want to hunt. Share your hunting tales over the dinner table at the endof a great hunting day in the Northwoods. Your hunting dogs are welcome. We will provide you with directions and maps to hunting areas both on and off “The Farm,” or a licensed guide service is available by request. We also offer a free range and clay pigeon target shooting for you to practice your shooting skills. Gun safety and hunter ethics are very important to us because we want you to experience the best hunt possible.

For a successful hunt, it is important to be prepared. Because weather in Wisconsin varies, remember to bring clothing appropriate for a variety of temperatures. Dressing in layers is best, and don't forget to bring comfortable outdoor boots, nylon, canvas or leather fronted brush pants, comfortable rain gear, and a good compass or GPS system. Purchasing maps of Price, Lincoln and Oneida County can also be helpful.

Ruffed Grouse, Woodcock, & Turkey Hunting
As mentioned above, Palmquist Farm offers bird hunting guests the opportunity to hunt on nearly 11,000 acres of private and public land. Some of this land is being managed for aspen production by county, state, and private timber companies. As grouse hunters well know, aspen clear-cut makes for excellent grouse habitat. Our fields, nestled among forested areas, are also excellent turkey habitat. The season for grouse and woodcock hunting is generally from mid-September till the end of the year. Turkey season depends upon the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources designation.

Former Miami Dolphin fullback Larry Csonka, famous for winning two Super bowl titles during his 1968-1980 career, was featured in a TNN Network outdoor sports cable television program featuring grouse hunting at "The Farm" and in the Price County area.  Owner Jim Palmquist accompanied Larry in the hunt and the show was aired to millions of viewers.  Larry said "I am just amazed at how many grouse we found in Price County, not only on "The Farm" but on other land we hunted, including the county forests.  It is obvious that land owners and the county have taken steps to cater to these birds.  That's why I will be back, and I am sure other hunters will be too." We look forward to your joining us on a hunt.

Ruffed Grouse, Woodcock, & Turkey Hunting Rates:  A 3-night, 4-day, 9-meal hunting package is $495/adult. Each additional night, which includes 3 meals, is $145/day. Whitetail Deer Hunting
Hunting whitetail deer is a longtime tradition at Palmquist Farm, and we are excited for you to join that tradition. Bring your son or daughter or closest friends and family for a special hunting experience you won’t forget. At Palmquist Farm, we offer two types of hunts. For both types of hunts, some guide service and transportation into the woods is included plus removal of the animal from the woods.

In-season hunting:

We are excited for licensed rifle, bow, or crossbow hunters to explore our property for a trophy white-tail deer during the seasons set by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Walk through thousands of acres of woods and fields or perch in a beautiful spot with your own tree stand and wait for that big buck. After a fun day of chasing deer, come home to “The Farm” for a home-cooked meal. You may wish to check seasons and requirements on the DNR website. For safety reasons, we can only accept a limited number of hunters, so make your reservation today.

Northern Buck Preserve:

For the ultimate hunting experience, hunt in our 600 acre fenced and licensed deer hunting preserve. There is no state-licensing requirement for individual hunters. The area is managed for timber production and deer with large antlers. You should see several good-sized bucks each day you hunt. The area has a number of tower stands or you may chose to bring your own. Former guests have described it as tremendous tract of hunting land and one of the best private hunting areas in the state. Hunts take place during the fall months. We only accept a limited amount of hunters for this unique experience. Also, special hunts, such as bow, pistol, father & son hunts, etc., are available. Please contact us for more information on special hunts.
